Yakov Avidon About
Yakov Avidon moved to the USA in 1980 as a refugee from Russia, where in his earlier years he attended the Repin School of Art in Ecaterinburg.
Later he got his masters degree in Electromechanics, graduating the Polytechnical College.
Art was always his favorite hobby during his life. It became a full time job after he retired.
In his statement Yakov mentioned that he has always been amazed by the perfection of Nature, where everything has a purpose and is created with the greatest balance.
An artist can only hope to succeed in attempting to describe the details in nature's arsenal of beauty.
Taking the perfection and exhibiting it through the prism of our imagination can bring us closer to nature than one can expect. This particular feeling of
closeness is the driving force for his work.
Yakov enjoys working in three-dimensional medium of sculpture, which allows him
to capture the essential components of forms whether it be figurative or animal.
His sculptures executed in bronze, stone, ceramic and polyresin were exhibited at Art galleries and shows in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Arizona, New York
and New Mexico.
Currently Yakov is concentrating on a series of sculptures dedicated to animals listed in the Endangered Species Act, which prohibits the killing of these specific animals.
In his latest work he is trying to keep the realistic concept with sensible contemporary flavor.
