William J. Joel Art Blog
A good friend of mine recently turned 70. He and I used to teach together at the same college, and we both share a love of poetry. Both of us have had our poetry published.
Anyway, I knew that William Carlos Williams was one of the first poets he had discovered. One of Williams' well-known poems is called "The Red Wheelbarrow."

So, for my friends birthday, I created the woodcut you see here. Originally I had thought to paint the wheelbarrow red, leaving the rest black & white, but my wife suggested I not paint it. I think it turned out pretty well.
