Tonight, I made a first attempt at cutting my block. It came out fairly good, but I did make a few slips which I then turned into opportunities.
For example, as I worked on the glass stem, I cut through the border. So, I decided to make the entire stem cross the border for effect. I also slipped as I cut away the wood from the top of the glass, so I added cuts below the surface of the wine, which made the glass look as if it were perhaps cut glass.
The apple, however, still needs a tad bit of work near the stem. The curvature of the cuts is just not right.
