This piece was combined from found images and hand-painted with acrylics. It was inspired by thoughts about the strange correlation between Eastern religion and the post-sixties psychedelic experience in America. I'm intrigued by the way in which that counter-culture harvested a vast number of religious as cultural traditions and symbols and homogenized them into a belief system and aesthetic that resembles its influences but lacks cohesion., much like the counter-culture itself. Then again, it's just a picture with lots of pretty colors.
