The Prayer, October in New York 2001 - nude female

The Prayer, October in New York 2001 is a very special drawing. Rachel, my lovely model, was one of the thousands of people who were forced to run from the burning towers on September 11. Rachel and I dealt with that by her coming to my studio and for the following month, we created this drawing together. It is a work that is all about trust and about becoming safe again. The prayer is illustrated by her holding the light in her hands and the light represents joy. If you hold tight to joy, no one can take your freedom away.
