We are Artists and we like to think that we are outside the box. We want to create outside the box and be different than the norm. But the norm has become being different, unique. Everyone is an artist now. We have an app for that and a page on every social network that is "All About Me". Look at me. Look at how unique I am

Springtime happens to be my very favorite time of the year!
This is so for many reasons; the first being that I look at it as a time of renewal, a time of re-birth. It is the time of the year when the flowers are blooming, even here in the desert, and the birds are up earlier, thus so am I!
Springtime means many things to me

Painting a large canvas, as this one is, is a different kind of experience. My teacher, Eo Omwake, tells me every inch of the canvas must be beautiful. To maintain interest in every square inch of a large canvas requires a great deal of seeing and reseeing. This is my favorite kind of painting

The inspiring music of his trumpet made me do this!
I sold this painting some calendar days ago.
It feels like a piece of me is gone away... I had a strange relationship with this painting. As part of my "narrative," this painting records an encounter with a great Cuban musician and the traces that encounter left on me

I have recently begun to let myself go with color in painting abstractly. My paintings have always been expressive and colorful, but I am really enjoying the liberty of not being tied to reproducing a subject. Let me add "an external subject

There are times that require an abstract. This was done as a video. I had no idea what to paint, but just painted under circumstances that were not too good. My stepdaughter was very ill and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. So, I started to paint and this is what happened. I hope you can see the emotion

Each white rose represents 1 year of Cami's too short life. Every brush stroke was a remembrance of her. I'm not willing to sell this painting but I have already sold several prints. Cami's D day was yesterday, April 8th. I was wondering what the day would be like being Easter and all

Back in the day, a cliche I often use when talking about the past, artist were special, eccentric beings, who played outside the box. Their minds were filled with images and stories much like the screens of our iphones and pads are filled with today

Spring arrived early this year in Philadelphia; a blossoming magnolia tree at the Rodin Museum in mid-March.

Finally, finally, I discovered the error of my photography skills. I read and followed all the tips and tricks. I made a backdrop, moved the canvas, used the sunlight correctly, bought a new camera, paid photographers yada yada yada...but alas...my whites were still washed out or the color tones were wrong

Tip of the week
Our spanking new search engine is working very efficiently: When searching a particular artist, the paintings are listed in chronological order. This means that the viewer can detect how long ago you uploaded that image. You should plan to regularly upload new work, or take some images out, and re-upload them.

Tips of the week
Tip #4: Put your events On Line. All your shows, Open Houses, shared exhibitions, etc. should be listed on your site.
Tip #5: Always upload low-resolution images on the Internet.
Tip #6: Apply a Copyright symbol to your images, or some type that shows the image is your own artwork. Picasa, Flickr and Photoshop are some of the programs that allow you to do that.

New Search Engine!
The first steps of production of our new site have been completed, and we have a spanking new, super fast search engine. Check it out!
Here are the new ways to direct a search:
Subject (tree, flower, people, object, etc)
Color (blue, pink...), styles, names of artists
Mediums: photography, digital, oil, pastel, colored pencil
Names of places where the painting comes from
In the "sort" box, you can search by lowest or highest price, or by the newest or oldest artwork that has been uploaded.
Other improvements:
When you click on an image in an artist studio, the main image is 30% larger than before, and when you click again on the magnifying tool, the image fills the whole screen.
This should make searching for a specific piece a lot easier!
