Daniel and the Lions.

Topics: Daniel and the Lions

This paintings composition was inspired by a Bernini Statue of Daniel and a Peter Paul Rubens painting of Daniel in the Lions Den. I always love the epic scape of a Rubens paintings because of the s-shape compositions that derive from Michelangelo. Thank goodness I found that book of Bernini statues at my college library otherwise I might haven't been inspired to create the composition in color pencil before transferring it to canvas. I also was aided during the painting process by my master oil painting teacher Mark Menendez who coached me through the process of bringing this painting to life through contrast and his art techniques… Continue reading… 0 comments

Greetings fellow artists and art lovers! I am still coloring and working on a new painting or two. Wanted to post some images from a new CB on Kaleidoscopes that I recently acquired. Please check them out and send me your feedback (these are two fun to complete with the art markers, and I can usually complete a design in one sitting!)… Continue reading… 0 comments

I have been a bit hard to reach it seems. I have responded to several inquiries about paintings but have not received any replies back, so Im not sure if my messages are going in your spam folders or what. So please if you do not get a response from me, do check the spam folders. I try my best to answer everyone who inquires even though life has made it so my art work is not my primary source of income. At age 64 I now have college degree in Technology and am working for John Deere as a Customer Service Tech for region 4. I am not doing many commission pieces but will sell my prints and saws. I no longer can travel and set up displays at the shows, and I do miss the chance to interact personally with the clients and friends, as my clients are friends… Continue reading… 0 comments

It was his birthday, he seemed to be happy! https://www.facebook.com/Lottospielen24

The house portrait is finished and matted for delivery. I'm able to trim bushes where necessary and add flowers at the client's request; Winter scenes can be transformed into Spring/Summer. If I've given you the feeling you're "home", I've done my job… Continue reading… 0 comments

After transferring to watercolor paper, the first washes of paint are applied. I like to start with the largest ones: (sky, lawn, roof) to feel I'm making a lot of progress. My favorite thing at this stage is making a gray sky turn blue… Continue reading… 0 comments

When clear pictures are received I begin with a rough sketch, followed by this more detailed one. I've straightened lines, added or deleted details as needed. An indication of shadows is included, as this will be my "working" sketch to be transferred to Arches watercolor paper… Continue reading… 0 comments

The Secret

"The Secret" artwork by Ghenadie Sontu is a love story about commitment in a family relationship. The distinctive elements and symbols of this painting are: two birds, a gift box with the golden ring inside, a lamp, a handmade red pouch and a notebook with secret recipes for a strong family. The author invites the audience to a self-reflection about their family values and relationships. "The Secret" artwork by Ghenadie Sontu was exhibited at the Fine Art Trade Guild's Art & Framing convention in Stratford Upon Avon and London, UK, 2016 and was published in the catalog of the exhibition. www.ghenadiesontu… Continue reading… 0 comments

One of the things I love about Spring besides the fact it signals the end of Winter, is the bright array of fresh new flowers and bushes in bloom. This watercolor is another in my series of churches in my local area… Continue reading… 0 comments
